Welcome to Vleesboom.nl
Initial fibroid treatment often consists of medication. Until recently, there were two widely-used alternatives if drug treatment did not achieve the desired result, namely hysterectomy and myomectomy. However, since 1998 it has been possible in the Netherlands to undergo a procedure known as uterine embolisation instead. A successful and relatively minor procedure which offers women an alternative to hysterectomy or myomectomy. On this website, the interventional radiologists and gynaecologists at the St. Elisabeth hospital in Tilburg, the Netherlands, aim to provide information about this new treatment option. There is a maximum waiting time of 8 weeks for this new procedure. As an introduction, a description of what fibroids are and of the traditional treatment methods is provided here. For further information please use the form to consult an interventional radiologist or gynaecologist at the St. Elisabeth hospital in Tilburg.
